Firstly, last month's Heat One. The Words were unhesitatingly our vote, though they went through on the judge's vote. The audience vote winners All the Kings Men were OK, but it's Jesus in India who should be aggrieved at not getting through.
Last night's Heat Two started with the council estate pop of Wythenshawe's FMF. A great front man with good lyrics, but the band definitely weren't gelling on the night. It wasn't in the least surprising when Bobbie Peru won the audience vote, they certainly got ours. Go and see them at the Little Civic on May 28th Wolverhamptonites! We would have much preferred to see second place go to the second ginger of the night (not counting Zoe), Republic of Struan. But the judge's vote went to Daisy Goes Green. He can't get it right every time.
Looking forward to Heat 3, and of course to Pris's gig at late room in July.
In other news, we're in The Guardian. We wrote... most of it. The essence of it you might say. I have no shame.

Bark @ SK1
A top night last night at Bark in SKone, that I am paying for with an unscheduled holiday today (sorry boss). Gokarnas were fantastic and the find of the night for me, Red on Black were unbelievably talented and brilliant, and Five Ounces of Pigeon were loopy and hysterical in a Bonzo Dog stylee. Massively disappointed The Naughtys chose not to come, but we'll get a chance to see them one day I'm sure. Anyway, we'll be back for more Bark when there is one I'm sure.
